Sparkle Holiday Jars

The other day I bought these at Anthropologie.

I can't find them on their site, but I purchased them in the store.

I love them.

I like to add to my Christmas decor every year with something from Anthro.

Last year I bought this Merry Christmas banner

and the initial ornaments the year before.

So...back to the jars.

These were the only three sizes available.

I wanted more..more...MORE!

Hobby Lobby for some good variations in mason jar sizes.

Martha Stewart (at Michaels) for the glue, glitter and flocking.

And both Michaels and Hobby Lobby for the mini trees and deer.

It was really just as simple as coating the trees and deer in glue

and sprinkling glitter or flocking on them.

Then I just hot glued them to the lids.

Poured in more glitter (for snow).

And bam...a little sparkle village.

Pretty!

And then I plopped them in my window sill by my kitchen sink (and apparently my very dirty window) and now I have something pretty to look at while cleaning up everyones plates that can't seem to make their way into the dishwasher:)

Oooo...what I would do for that jacket.

Love that jacket.

That jacket I believe was around $2500.

No joke.

Anywhoo...fast forward to this year and although I don't actually like

to be a year behind in anything...I think this jacket is pretty classic (in my eyes) and

I still love it with all my heart.

Luckily...there are a few inspired versions of it that are not thousands of dollars.

Ok. So I have had a ton of people emailing me (disappointed in me) because apparently...

some like my shopping finds.

So.

I'm back...taking a break from pressing and shipping and actually

on another note...if you can hold off from sending that, "just checking on my order status" email...

My kids go back to school tomorrow.

It is going to be 110 degrees at last check.

That. Stinks.

Oh well...not much we can do about the weather.

Or the fact that school is starting back in tomorrow.

Here's a little breakdown of our back to school finds.

Backpacks...check.

Backpacks are expensive I tell ya
(and you probably already know)...

however...if you buy a good one (which is the only way to go really)

then they would/should/could last 2 years or so.

Here's what we got.

Both from Zappos.

Both padded and comfy.

And both totally duded up with pom poms, pins, hanging lipglosses and sanitizers.

Next...shoes:)

Peyton still needs a new pair of sneakers (because she runs like a ballerina on her tip toes!!)

but lililoo is all set in her throwback New Balance.
Which I love and would totally wear myself.

It is strange here when school is back in...because it is AUGUST and it is hot.

Seriously hot.

I specifically remember going back to school in Calgary after Labor Day.

With new dress shoes and sneakers (to which I would always lose one or the other

either coming or going to school...my mother must have been at her wits end with me and my

losing shoe issue). But because it is hot here...you either wear sneakers or flip flops.

This year...Ainsley wanted these.

They are still too warm to wear right now...but I like her style.

They will be adorable with pretty much anything when the temp drops below uhhh...90??

Can you believe she picked these out herself?
I am not even sure she realizes that boat shoes will be THE shoe this year...just watch.

Next...back to school clothes.
Again. Tough call here because it is an oven out there.
I secretly wish for uniforms at our school (gasp!) but if we had them...it may
suck because really...I don't think anyone makes tank top uniforms:)
We only got a couple new things this year so far.
I love August and September summer sales, when everyone is moving into fall,
we can snatch up some good deals and wear them basically all year here:)

Ok...this puny post has taken me over an hour to write because I keep being interrupted so I should probably call it a puny post and I will return when I can think again:)

"There's 104 days of summer vacation and school comes along just to end it..."

or so the song goes...

but today I was thinking about it and with our school starting back up next week...

summer vacation for us was really only 60 days or so.

So where are the other 44 days?

What a ripoff.

Needless to say...we are back from our Canadian cool down and I have to say...it was nice:)

Sure it rained almost everyday...at least for 10 minutes...and I liked it.

I wore the same pair of jeans probably 15 of the 21 days we were there

(yes I washed them...at least once:)

But it was lovely.

However, I just realized today why my air conditioning bill is always highest in August.

Yes it is hot as you know what in August in Phoenix...but it is also because we get back from

Calgary, directly into this oven we call home and I am used to spending the last couple weeks in comfort so the last thing I want to do is sweat it out.

Thus...I seem to set the a/c a good 5 degrees below what I was sitting in BEFORE our trip.

Make sense? Maybe not...but it made perfect sense in my head.

Ok...here are a few pictures from the trip.

Nothing spectacular (unless you count my sister's new house which is indeed spectacular).

Since there is absolutely no rhyme nor reason to these photos...I will just bore you with pics.

First...Peyton (the animal lover) got her fill of doggies with my mom's two.

As you can see...they are quite fond of her as well.

We spent alot of time at the park with the girl's cousins.

Mainly because of these swings...which are very cool.

Ainsley was attached at the hip to her little cousin Kendall.

Isn't she cute!

Another fun climby thing at the park.

As you can see I got all dressed up for it.

Or maybe it was totally unplanned...ya...that is more like it.

I then had my hair colored crazy a couple days later.

Of course you cannot go to Canada without spotting some wildlife.

I was then inspired to make Ainsley an instant armload of fabulousness.

I was most addicted to making the friendship bracelets to which I can now whip them out pretty quickly. I think I made about 15 of them while watching trash tv at night with my mom:)

Hmmm..what else (told you I would bore you)

And then...my sister's new house that she has been building for almost 2 years I guess.

Crazy.

Unfortunately they are moving in this weekend and so I missed it being completely finished by 4 days!

That sucks.

Another thing that sucks is that I had the completely wrong lens on my camera when I went to check it out...so you cannot even almost grasp

but...here are a couple highlights

which is in the best kitchen ever...also the largest kitchen I have

ever seen in a house...I will post photos when she moves in and has it finished...you will die

and then my favorite part of the house...the mouse hole in the kids playroom

I have disappointed myself because these photos do a disservice to how perfect this house is...

but...you get the idea.

And then to finish off my photo tour...gotta share just a couple things that I bought.

I didn't actually buy much there...yet I still had to bring back an extra suitcase and I have no idea why.

But...first...I found these...I loved these...I had to have them and I can't explain why except

that they make me happy.

Yup... a totally missmatched set of cutlery.

Random I know...but...like I said, they make me happy:)

And then...my little miss mugs.

I adore little miss and mr. men.

I get so irritated when I see the little miss tees all over the place.

Overkill. I was super excited 6 years ago when they started coming back because they

take me right back to being a kid...but people are still churning out the Little Miss Giggles tees and

I don't like oversaturation:(

Never the less...that did not stop me from buying these mugs...which again...just make me happy:)

Now, you can't tell me that those fingerprints on your cup of coffee wouldn't make you smile too:)

Roller Girl turns 11

Today my girl turned 11.

Strange birthday with her dad not here to help decorate.

Also strange birthday because I think this is the first birthday that we have not had at home.

Any birthday party has always been a home sorta deal.

Sure we have had bouncy castles and water slides etc...but it has always come to us.

So this year...we went to the party place.

A skeezy roller rink to be exact.

The employees are nice enough...in fact they are super nice.

It just isn't the fanciest place in the world.

Not that roller rinks are.

But...in my head...I could open a super cute one lol.

All retro.

Anyways. I digress. Sorry.

So Peyton turned 11.

With 11 of her best friends.

It was cute.

They were exhausted and sweaty and bruised by the end of the 3 hours.

3 hours of rolling around in one circle.

Hmmm...I thought it was a good idea until I just read that actually.

The day went off without a hitch.

The only issue other than my 6'2" helper missing was the fact that I took Peyton's camera at the last second. Never again. Not that indoor/rollerrink photos can be cute.

But I am most certain they can be alot cuter than what I caught.

So here is a brief breakdown of the fun.

I suck because I totally forgot to take some very important photos.

Whatever. You get the gist.

The birthday girl

Her outfit she put together.

Just a shot of sister who wanted her hair curled and who will eventually realize that her hair doesn't actually want to do anything other than wave.

The feather in her hair still makes me think of a lizard tail...ew.

Ok...so here is where it gets bad.

A. I forgot to take a photo of my party table:(

So if you want to have a rollerskating party...these all worked out well for me.

I had blinking bracelets/necklaces for the kids...which made it easier to spot who was in our group when they were out on the floor.

I also had led cups and star decorations.

And glow in the dark balloons.

The glow stuff was cute.

The table...I bought some fabric for a table cloth.

(this was the same "table cloth" they had in Lemonade Mouth the movie. Peyton liked it...so a simple google search and I found it. Now I have 5 yards of crazy fabric")

This of course is at the end of the party when we took all my cute food/decorations down:(

So since it is the end of the party table.

Here is what the kids got to take home.
If you were a kid in the 80's...you might have had a slush mug.

I did. And I loved mine.

Hours we would spend trying to turn a half a cup of coke into a slush...good times.

They each got a super cute cookie from this etsy chick.

I am not totally sure what they taste like...but I am going to go eat one now and I am sure they are as yummy as they are cute:)

Here was one of the table decorations.

I just wrapped a big styrofoam square and shoved them all in it.

It worked.

The 11 was from this etsy chickie.

Hey look. I totally forgot to take a photo of my big cookie cake with the rainbow Peyton decoration in the middle...but check it out:)

This was it.

I just iced it onto the middle of a giant cookie.

As you can see...no method to my madness.

No real theme.

Just color. Glitter. Glow. Fun.

And as for the cake...well...I made these yesterday and it cut down on the entire messy

"cut the cake" situation.

No messy plates needed...and the kids just took the rest of their cake home:)

And just like that...the day is done.

Oh it pains me how terrible these photos are:(

But oh well...still a cute group of great kids.

I am thinking Peyton must have told them to wear crazy socks.

Maybe not.

Now I am tired.

But I am glad we she had a fun day.

Except for the huge bruise on her hip from flying through the air and landing on her bones.

Feathers and Hickies...oh my

Today...we sneezed our way around the mall.

Just had to get out of the house.

So I figured why not spread our cold germs around the air conditioned mall.

Yes. I am that mom that took her contagious children to the mall.

Whatever.

What did we get?

Hair feathers.

I know I know...these have been around for awhile.

But I think they are kinda cool.

I wanted some myself but

A. my hair is all one length and rediculously long so they would look stupid

and

B. I baffled the lady on my hair color...no joke. I was not kidding when I said

my roots were 3 inches long. I may have lied...they may be worse.

Let's put it this way...the top part of my head is dark brown and the bottom 8 inches or so is

Ainsley's color. Been to the salon much?

So...no feathers for me.

But look how cute this chick looks.

I guess I could just get something temporary.

I used to have one of these when I was a kid.

I got it at the Calgary Stampede and we would clip them to the back of our cowboy hats.

I was looking for something similar last summer

...then I was going to make some for the girls

and now...look...they are back!

I would like to report that at this very moment...I feel kinda...like myself.

The last week has been horrible.

Between Peyton and myself we were a disaster.

Today is the first day in over a week that I felt ok.

Peyton's hives have cleared up (thank GOD) ...sure she has a horrible cold now and I just

heard Ainsley sneeze twice in a row...but colds I can handle.

Head to toe hives...no thanks.

Dizziness, tummy ache and everything else that goes with those...see ya.

A box of tissue and some tylenol and we are all set.

So today I want to pretend like it is not 116 degrees out (even though it is and will be all week) and

I want to look at some things that make us all feel better.

Let's see what we can find.

With Peyton's birthday in a week, normally I would have a post about cute things I have found/planned/made for it...but since we have all been so sick, I honestly have no idea what I am doing.

All I know is that they are rollerskating. Hopefully the rest will fall into place.

Ok...first...I think this beach towel blanket would be super cute to make and carry to and from the pool.

First...headwear.

I love hats.

Knit berets in the winter...straw/floppy/fedora/caps in the summer.

Covers my winkled forehead and my 3 inch long roots:)

Hair.

I will admit...I seem to not be big on brushing my hair these days.
No idea why. Maybe because my head hurt so much.

But I have also taken a liking to this Surf Spray from Bumble & Bumble.

Now something to wear without dying of heat.

I was in Old navy the other day and was pleasantly surprised with their maxi dresses.

Since I am a big fan of Ella Moss and Splendid clothes...mainly their stripes...

I was happy to see more stripes. Love me some stripes. Can't have too many stripes.

And then to the feet.

I have to admit. All winter my feet are in UGGS...all summer they are in havainanas.

There are no flip flops as comfy.

Apparently for once my timing was impeccable because a month or so ago Missoni did a

limited edition collaboration with Havainanas and guess who snagged a pair.

Sure I could probably turn around and sell them for $200+ on ebay...but why would I?

The color is No more Waity, Katie from Butter...and it makes me happy.

Ok. So not gonna press my luck.

This is the longest I have been vertical in a week.

The flu...a full case of hives and just plain boredom

My last three days have included:

one kid with a super duper swollen face/eyes/lips
same kid with a tummy ache
one trip to the pediatrician
target pharmacy to get said steroids for puffy child
no sleep for me as I stare at puffy child
trip to the ER for puffy child
2nd trip to target pharmacy for epi pen
still no sleep as I again stare all night at puffy child
sunday spent on the couch sleeping literally all day because
I also have a stomach bug and I feel like _ _ _ _

Oh this weekend sucked.

I literally watched Disney Channel none stop all weekend because I was surrounded by

kids (one puffy and one bored) and I truly didn't care what was on tv.

(although I will say...A.N.T Farm, Shake it up, Kickin' it and Good Luck Charlie are all pretty hilarious shows...OH and Zeke and Luther...makes me laugh) but...

I just need the hives to go away.

And my tummy ache to go away.

Saturday morning was our last volleyball game of the season.

We are the coaches of Ainsley's team.

Steve is in Kentucky.

I was on the couch and unable to move.

Did I mention how much this weekend sucked?

Ok...enough whining.

I will say a very large prayer that Peyton's hives are not here in the morning.

I think they will be...but they have to leave eventually.

I hope. Poor kid.

I did manage to make and ship some orders today.

In between my unconciousness.

If anyone that knows me THINKS they saw someone who looked like me yesterday at the pharmacy but they were frightened because I looked like I hadn't washed/brushed etc.

It was in fact me...and I in fact hadn't.

Ok...down to business.

The cut off for GUARANTEED orders before we go on vacation in July was last week.

Sorry. But I had to cut it off and now being so sick...I am glad I did.

You can still place orders...however everything that is ordered now will not start shipping until the first week in August. And they will be filled in the order they were placed.

Today was Father's day.

I wish my dad a very happy fathers day.

He is such a wonderful dad.

Happy Friday!

Ok...so it is memorial day weekend.

And I am spent.

Seriously.

Wayyy spent.

So I am making some changes come fall.

I will slowly roll them out as I am ready.

They will be good.

In the mean time...if you are a past blog reader of mine you may remember

that in July we escape the heat and head North to my homeland (aka...Calgary:)

It is a good thing.

Fresh air...and basically a breather for me.

Now...for those of you that do not follow me on facebook...you probably don't know what

my boys line will now be a branch of my girls line.

I want to grow the boys side and I don't want to confuse people with sparkles and stuff.

So.

The very first item is a super soft tee that has my new boys logo.

I have it for boys from age 2-12 and then for dad's.

I also have a version for mom's that I bling just enough to make you sparkle still:)

I will have a new website (eventually...it is a looooong process) and it will have a boys section with fun new items.

BUT...for this weekend...I think we need to have a memorial sale and since there is still enough time to get your dad a tee...I will put them on special through Sunday:)

Trust me...there is not a dad that won't think this is a cute present from their kids:)

Did I just say "good in the hood"?

I think I say that alot actually.

Mainly to reasure people that things are under control.

Which they are...always...why? Because I am a control freak I think.

So here's the update.

Zulily was great.

Let me tell you...they are a fabulous company to work with.

SOOO friendly.

And organized.

And fabulous.

I loved them.

Then we had the "family science project".

Yup.

Peyton had to do a science project and she entered us as a family.

I am not one to leave things until the last minute.

I HATE being rushed.

I do not thrive on stress.

Stress...stresses me.

I cannot function when I am stressed.

This is why I hardly ever get yelled at by customers.

Because I know my limits.

I don't like to stress other people either.

So as you can imagine...this job loss thing just doesn't really work for me at the moment;)

Whatever. Back to the project.

We started it a month ago.

We were going to grow rock candy.

Different flavors.

Different colors.

9 jars.

This was 24 cups of sugar...boiled...etc.

Then it sat.

These sat for a week.

Nothing grew.

Noone touched them.

Nothing grew.

So...I made Steve redo them...in case I screwed something up.

Another week later.

Nothing grew.

%$^%&#*#(*%$(%(%^&

50 cups of sugar later and NOTHING.

Because I had nothing else going on in the middle of this.

So...time to regroup.

What did Peyton and I do? We grew bacteria.

Mouth bacteria.

EWWWWW is right.

And after 2 full days of reporting and putting it together...the whole

flippin' thing went out the door to school this morning and wheeeee.

I can now concentrate on my horrid cold/sinus infection that has

invaded my head for the last 2 weeks.

In case you were interested...mouth bacteria is totally disgusting...yet very interesting.

Yup...that is 6 days of bacterial growth from the mouth.

We did the mouth before tooth brushing.

Then with tooth brushing.

And then with brushing and mouth washing.

As you can imagine...the tooth brushing and mouth washing helped slloooooow down the rate of growth...but still...ewwwww.

And just for fun...I wanted to see if a dogs mouth is really cleaner than a humans

(not that I really believed that it was).

Um...there is some funky monkey stuff growing in my Georgie's mouth.

I don't even wanna know what the black dot is.

Have I grossed you out enough yet?

Well...one more. I just wanted to put a drop of hand sanitizer in the middle to see if it really helps keep the germs down and guess what...

The dot in the middle is the sanitizer.

Clearly I will keep using it.

Ok...enough gross stuff.

Onto something cute.

I guess you can't tell what she is doing here.

This is the lake in our neighborhood.

Been here for 5 1/2 years now and this is the first time fishing.

Better late than never.

And better her than I.

She caught 10 slimy fish.

She loved it.

Of course she came home from school covered from front to back (and even side)

with dirt and dust from playing baseball at school.

Seriously. We have NEVER been that filthy coming home from school.

There was a time in my life when I thought I talked too much.

You know...that person that you chat with and they won't shut up.

I always thought that was me.

Like I could hear myself talking in my head.

Not so much anymore.

I am constantly thinking of things I want to do...to make...to try.

I have a million ideas in my head and it seems I can't talk and think anymore.

Does this make sense?

I doubt it. Just know that I have alot of new stuff planned

and I am excited about all of it coming together.

Speaking of things coming together...I am doing a Zulily event tentatively on the 24th.

ZOINKS!

This means I have a TON of work ahead of me still.

But...it is all a learning experience.

Everything is a learning experience.

Kinda like the school "family" science project that we have to somehow do this month.

Seriously...if you saw my calendar you would wonder how I am going to do all of this.

One day at a time I guess.

Speaking of Calendar's...take a look at the one hanging in my office.

Ainsley fill's it in.

She forgets 99% of the stuff that needs to go on the calendar...but

if you look at the bottom you will notice the note about Peyton and her dream pet.

Yes...she still wants a hedgehog.

She is obsessed actually.

No idea why.

I would get her one...but they are illegal in Arizona:(

It's kinda sad.

Even her room.

(I did that painting years ago...totally copied it from Mary Engelbreit out of a book...Peyton was into mermaids and we needed something to hang on her walls. Maybe I need to paint a hedgehog...nah...maybe just a hedgehog tee;)

Ok...what else. Ahhh...Ainsley.

Her shoe laces are always undone.

We just got a new pair of sneakers a couple weeks ago and

they.will.not.stay.tied!

SO...she came up with her own solution...right outta my shop.

The twistband shoe laces.

Hellooooo...you don't have to undo them.

They make your shoes stretchy laced so you can just slip them on and off.

Done.

The pink ones even have the peace signs on them. Cute huh.

Next...we tried our new shoe pom pom's.

Our volleyball team's (did I mention we are coaching it!)

colors are gold/purple.

Naturally we have the hair pom pom's...but I thought we would try

the shoe pom pom's.

I think they are small enough that they would be cute at the ends of braids too.

They work on laces, flip flops....crocs...and as we quickly found out...

make for the perfect tutu for barbie. Who woulda thunk!

Dude...that is alot of stuff going on our shoe.

Oh well...she is never one to under accessorize.

I don't have the shoe pom pom's yet in stock.

Just the big ones for the hair.

So this morning on all the news shoes they are talking about the J crew ad with the beautiful

Jenna Lyon's (who may very well be my design hero) and her 5 year old son Beckett.

It was from an email ad last weekend.

I got the ad. I thought it was adorable.

The hoohah about the ad is that Jenna is putting nail polish on Beckett's toes.

Um. WHO CARES!

Seriously. SERIOUSLY? People.

Sigh.

I was singing his song all day after that episode (that I forced my kids to watch).

Ok...hubby is watching icarly with the girls and Peyton's friend who is sleeping over.

I spent the day making, steaming, pressing, photographing and then listing some limited edition dresses.

If you missed them...there are a couple left I think in my etsy shop...which you can see here.

I had some help while I was trying to take my photos;)

Then someone kept popping into the photos

She was actually in charge of taking the dresses off the mannequin and putting the new ones back on.
Unlike this dude who did NOT have a job except to stay outta the photos.

Notice how he is not looking at me? He is TOTALLY pretending that he is looking past me.
Like he doesn't know that I am 6 inches in front of his face.

Oh look...someone popped back into the photo.

She was trying to show me all the different colors in the heart...like I didn't know there were there.
This is about the 4th version of the rainbow heart. I am so heart picky.
Sometimes I use a heart to dot an i...and they are not just any hearts...they have to be "fat" hearts.
I like my hearts fat.
And my regular rainbow heart was just not working for me...so...then we tried the "groovy rainbow" heart with the slant...nope...still did nothing for me...but I think this is it.
This heart makes me happy:)

Oh...This week I decided on the spur of the moment that it was such a lovely night, that we should bbq by the lake in our neighborhood.

It was yummy.
We played ball too.
Until my beach ball caught the wind and went into the lake.
I had to run to the other side of the lake in my flip flops and retrieve said ball.

That pink dot is our ball...floating...it is now home safe and sound.
Good thing the football was too heavy to catch the wind.
Geeze louise is Peyton good at throwing a football.
This is not something she gets from me.
I am rediculously horrid at throwing a football.

On friday after school pick up we met the girls in the school playground with new kites.
Fabulous kites from Costco.
It was too windy. No joke. I didn't know that was possible.
We will try again maybe tomorrow if it is moderatly windy.

The heat is coming the heat is coming...egads

It was 101 degrees yesterday.

It is only 93 today so far...however it is only 2 and it usually keeps ona risin' until about 5.

That sucks.

It is only April 2nd.

Don't get me wrong...I like the heat.

I like to be warm. HATE to be cold. HATE it.

I don't like not being able to feel my fingers.

I cannot tell you how many golf tournaments I played in where I couldn't feel my hands.

If I couldn't feel my fingers I might as well have walked right back to the club house.

That was never an option.

Blah. Cold=Blah.

Well cold is the last thing I have to deal with these days.

My next problem...swimsuits.

I do love them.

Just not on me.

I pulled out my trusty suit yesterday and the elastic literally disintegrated.

You know a suit is too old when the elastic disintegrates.

Today...I had to go shopping.

This is what I came home with.

It is pretty cute.

Kinda "momish" but apparently...I am a real mom and not a Real Housewife of Miami.

Holy Schmoly...I caught up on all those episodes last night.

Um...ya.

A couple other fun finds at the mall.

For kids...we saw this tee that I loved.

But...like I said...it is 100 degrees out already.

So I saw this one...which I REALLY loved.

But...Ainsley is extremely scared of bees (after a bad incident a couple years ago...and then Steve got stung in the mouth a couple weeks ago from one that flew into his diet coke can).

So...we settled on this one...which I

actually love everything about it...from the saying...to the font...to the colors.

AND it is super soft.

Get all of these tees here at Peek...aren't you curious which has always been a favorite store of mine.

Just keep in mind that we got the size 6/7 for Ainsley in the tee because they looked really big to me.

Their sizing does confuse me a little. But the quality is always awesome and SO soft.

Then...the girls got a couple of these...which I have never seen in person,

only on the net...and I think we have a new addiction.

The good news is that I already have the ordering information in my file and

I think my shop needs these. We like fun new stuff.

So enough of our fun new finds.

What else did we do this week.

Well...one day I decided to greet the kids home from school with an old fashioned water gun fight.

It got pretty crazy pretty fast.

That cooled things off quickly:)

Then...I made a few fun things.

First...the sparkle fairy dress.

The wings are on the back of the dress.

This is not a good photo as you cannot see the ruffles in the dress...but they are there

and they are cute:)

Ok...I am off to MAYBE go for a swim.

Not convinced yet that this is something I need to do.

But...it is something the kids need to do.

I will say it is kinda sad when you are faced with the fact that you cannot

hide in jeans for the next 6 months.

So...bring on the maxi dresses:)

Today...we had a birthday.

Lili Loo turned 8.

8 years ago she came into this world in Savannah, Georgia.

She cried from the moment she came out...until her 1st birthday.

Wheeee. She was not an easy baby.

I held her for that entire first year.

Sometimes holding her would stop her crying...sometimes it would stop mine.

I would hold her for the rest of her life if she needed me to.

She is my buddy.

We have been attached to each other for 8 beautiful years.

Hmm...rhinestone tank...check...bottle cap necklace...check...somethings never change:)

You see this skirt...I used to make them.

I made everything at one point.

Ok...well enough of memory lane.

My "baby" is now 8.

I just put her to bed...she was sad that she is 8...she is sad that she is growing up.

I am sad too...but I love her dearly and nothing would change that.

On to the birthday.

It was a simple affair.

You will probably be dissapointed in my lack of everything...but she had a good time.

That's all that matters.

Insane it is. SOOO cool.

It literally came out today.

That's what grandma's are good for...lining up at 8 in the morning for the newest and best.

It honestly is crazy 3D. It works. BUT...they also say it is not for kids under 7 because it

is not good for their eyes. I can see that. I don't think it would be good for anyones eyes.

However you can turn the 3D back into 2D if you would like.

Getting some birthday calls:)

And working off some energy.

Of course...we had to have a fun cake.

It was actually pretty good.

I think the key is to use good Wilton Food Coloring.

Not the cheap stuff from the local grocery store.

I have a problem.

Ainsley's birthday is on Sunday.

I don't have anything planned.

Can you say sucky mom?

See...you probably think I am a good mom (or maybe you don't?)

But I really have nothing planned.

Truth be told...I don't usually plan much.
It always comes together in the end.
This year was going to be a big fun shindig with her buddies.

Then life got in the way.

Or...current events I guess.

Thus...things got pushed to the back burner and now I've got nothing.

This is not entirely true.
A last minute etsy purchase (after a helpful hint from Bridgette) hopefully will take

care of the cake and such.

Then I have this little diddy on it's way from Courtney Courtney.

My original plan was to redo her room.

I have not painted a single thing since we moved last May.

Now that I have no idea if we will have to move somewhere for a job...

I am not touching anything.

I had big plans:(

But I do have this...

Yup. A giant ice cream cone and a blankie:)

Good thing she is only 8.

So the kids are off school this week.

The hubs is still home.

I still have tons of work.

I am tee-red.

It was 91 degrees out today...

good thing my mom and dad heat their pool so the kids have a way to cool off.

Tuesday we went to the zoo.

The animals were very cooperative.

So, I need school to be back in session.
And I need hubby to get a job please.
Because I need to work.
Right now...I am a chicken without a head.
I wake up...press shirts...package shirts...ship shirts...entertain family members...return home...make shirts...etc etc etc...and repeat.
Chicken...no head.
I think what is throwing me off is the addition of the big dude here.
I have my system down pat when it is just the girls and I.
They are not the demanding ones.
They do not need to be entertained 24/7.
The big dude...I need him to quit asking me, "what are we doing today?"
(and I know he is reading this)
Well...here is the answer, "I am working!"
The girls will be fed and exercised at some point...no worries...it all works out.
Sigh.

Alright...time to look at cute spring stuff.
It is already quite warm here and well...I ditched half of my closet
(literally...pitched it into bags and gave it all to a friend).
I feel better.
I did each of the girls closets as well.
Pack away winter...and onto summer. We always seem to skip spring here.
It goes from 60 degrees to 90.
The good thing about summer clothes are that they take up way less room than sweaters and jackets huh.
So here are fun springy finds that I would like in my closet.

That one of my kids is a nut...a very pale nut

with long legs that I have no idea where they came from...or when

then I learned that my other one is also a nut

this was her "teen vogue" pose...ooooookkkkkkay;)

I also learned that I LOVE Tracey and her new skirts.

She sent me a couple skirts. I am in awe of them.

I forced her to open an etsy shop and show her ruffley love to the world.

So now...guess what...you get to stalk her etsy shop :)

This was actually our St. Pattie's day skirt...but someone found a way to "make it work"

for everyday...which makes me happy because I do love pink/green.

And that she definitely is my kid

I also learned that George officially has the largest nose I have ever seen on a dog

aaaaaaaand...I learned that I have alot of work to do...so off I go

So my kids have been taking roller skating lessons.

Yes. You read that correctly.

$5...an hour long lesson and then an hour of free skating.

You can't do ANYTHING for $5 these days.

Sure it is in a totally skeevy area of town.
Whatever. They like it.

And well...we still have a long way to go.
Rollerskating is not all that easy.

Needless to say, I have been looking for a new pair of rollerskates for Ainsley since

her birthady is coming up in a couple weeks and her old skates are too small for her.

Let me tell YOU...this opened up an entire new world to me.

LOOK at these.

Now NO...these are not for kids.

But wow.

I skated last weekend with the girls.

The strangest thing is happening to me.

My eyes are getting bad.

Don't get me wrong...my eyes are terrible to begin with.

I am fine in good light during the day.

It is when the sun goes down that it is starting to be a challenge.

Perhaps this is my bodies way of telling me I need to stop working until 10 pm every night.

I don't really have much new to tell you.

Spring is in the air

It was 78 degrees here today.

Not in my office. My office remains pretty dark actually.

But when I venture outside, I am always pleasantly surprised by how lovely it is.

Then I crawl like a mole back into my office...and put on a sweater and I am still cold.

Because...I am always cold. Always.

This is why I actually don't mind the Az summers.

Because it takes 110 degrees to finally warm me up.

So in the event that you live somewhere and you truly have a reason to be frozen.

(unlike me...I will quit complaining now)

Holy bad mood batman

Wow. Today I am nasty.

I deserve to be sent to a private island (ahhhhh) all my myself.

Actually...I am even irritating MYSELF today.

Yup...that is possible.

You know what I am doing?

I wear moccasins all the time and just the "shuffling" sound of

my own feet make me wanna slap myself!

So this morning...I sent my girl off to school very upset.

This has in turn ruined my entire day.

I really hope it didn't ruin hers.

But I am going to venture to guess that she has not had a smooth one herself.

I was kinda at the end of my rope this morning.
If there is anything in this world that I detest...it is being late.

My dad is responsible for this.

When he was ready to go...everyone had like 15 seconds to be ready or...

well...

I am not sure or what would happen.

I was just never late.

So...it is my destiny to raise my children to be like that.

Early birds.

However...my husbands "lingering" attitude is weighing them down.

So the mix is one kid that is always bouncy and ready to go...and a lolligagger.

I wake my kids up an hour and a half before school to give them plenty of time to get ready.

Today...the big chick ran outta time.

She ran outtta time to put her contacts in

..the contacts that she now loves.

So she went off to school with her glasses

and tears in her eyes

and an irritated mom because...well...I give her plenty of time to do everything.

Sigh.

You see...I am annoying myself all over again.

I stopped myself from going to school 6 times today just to give her a hug.

I love her so.

She is such a good easy kid.

She is just slow.

As molasses.

It irks me.

I am hoping this mornings debacle will make her speedy quick tomorrow.

But...I doubt it.

Such trivial things.

Can you say hormonal (me).

Sunday night.

Today...we saw snow.

It was cold last night.

And an hour north of our house...snow snow wet snow.

This was the first time Ainsley has seen snow.

She is almost 8...ha!

I grew up in Calgary.

There was alot of snow.

I don't miss it.

I was not a great skiier.

Nor ice skater.

So um...ya...me no likey.

But today was pretty.

And well...I think she wreaked her uggs:(

Anyways...tonight is the Oscar's.

Color me dissapointed...but I am not loving the dresses this year.

My best dressed list is going to go to:

That's it.

I did not love any other dresses.

What's up with that?

Sigh.

Oh...my poor Peyton had her heart broken tonight.

She wants a pet hedgehog.

Badly.

I was thinking it would be a fun birthday present for her in July.

Apparently not if we are still living in Arizona because they are illegal here.

But hey...since life is still totally up in the air for us...who knows where we will be come July.

Hopefully not in snow.

So a fabulous thing is happening starting tomorrow.

and kind words on our situation right now.

I really appreciate it.

It's just really lovely actually.

The truth is that this is just a bump in the road.

Eventually it will be a blip on the radar.

Everyone has issues. Everyone.

I am facing this one positively.

We are healthy (with the exception of my shoulder/arm/whatever that is still aching).

But everyone else is healthy.

So really. A job is a job and another will come along.

But for those of you that have sent positive thoughts.

I thank you.

You always find out who your true friends are when you need them.

Even if it is just a kind word.

However.

My heart aches for Valerie and her children.

For little Kate Mcrae and her family...

and for my friend Lisa, who's 12 year old son, who was perfectly healthy before Christmas

...may now need a heart transplant.

Those people...they need love and prayers and well wishes.

Us. We just need a job.

Alright. This week I plan on having lots of fun new stuff.

Hmmm. I can't seem to get warm today...or tonight.

This is not a good sign.

I think I need to go take a hot shower.

I just realized that I have not left my house in 3 days.

That's pretty crazy actually.

I have been working as usual.

This weekend Steve's mom is/was/is here

...his birthday was on Monday

...major homework day yesterday

...redo major homework today

tonight...I am frozen.

So. I have been debating talking about this.

But it happened a couple weeks ago and well...it is what it is.

My hubby lost his job.

With a company that he loved working for for 13 years.

I worked for them as well before I had Peyton.

We both loved working for them.

We were a golf couple...he is all about golf...and he is good at what he does.

He was a golf course manager...an extremely hard working one.

To put it mildly...we did not see it coming.

It sucks.

People keep saying it will be a good thing in the long run.

I will revisit that when the long run runs out and we are back on track.

At the moment.

It sucks.

Truthfully...the job was impossible.

It really was.

He did sooo much good there...he basically lived there...breathed it.

The members loved him.

Everyone always likes him.

He would come home at 8 or 9 at night...

to emails and calls from people needing more and more from him.

He would then work until 1 am.

Every single night.

He never complained.

So yes...it probably is a good thing in the long run.

Right now...it sucks.

'nuff said.

Anyways. I don't actually like to spread downer news.

But you never know who knows someone that knows someone and well...basically, he is looking for a job and we will move if we need to.

I can do my work from anywhere.

In the mean time. We will be fine.

Things WILL work out.

I do need help with my work...but uh ya...not from this golfy dude:)

Ok. So there. That's what's going on over here.

I am officially the bread winner for the time being...and I hate it. HA.

But...I don't hate working...I love what I do.

Not at my house.

Currently my couch has been hijacked by this little person.

Just a fever.

A big bad stubborn fever.

We started barking like a seal a couple days ago out of the blue.

Now this.

The school nurse tells me that you either get the bark/fever...or the puke/fever.

I will take the bark version.

Speaking of bark:)

This morning on my facebook feed I saw this.

Which linked to this.

Which I then could not find again when I needed it...but then I found it here.

Phew.

But no worries.

30 minutes later and I had this.

I don't even wanna eat it.
I just want to look at a bowl of it.

Sprinkles are like sparkles to me.

Because together they all just remind me of rainbows.

You cannot find me one person that does not look at this bark and think, "cute!"

I have to make another batch of the bark for my mom to take to a pot luck tomorrow.
I kinda think it needs more cake batter in it.

The recipe called for only 1 tsp.

I am shooting for 3 with the second batch.
If I am going to put cake batter in my chocolate I wanna be able to taste it.

So I haven't blogged in a couple days.

Not sure why.

So let me find some fun things to share.

I am seeing it's influence all over the place these days.

I swear..if my butt would fit into these...I would wear this entire outfit as is.

It could very well be my favorite jacket ever.

It is green. I love green.

Green is my favorite color...the brighter the better.

This looks buttery soft and I swear I would have this until I was 90 years old.

I know. I am crazy. That's what makes the world go around.

Here is my jacket.

This one is a very close second.

But it isn't green.

I remember when I was in 7th grade. I had a bright green

suede jacket that literally said "green" on the back of it.

I have no idea why it said that...but I loved that jacket.

This one is almost as good.

Personally...I don't enjoy Valentine's much.

I did think our heart shaped pizza from papa johns was cute though:)

So were the chocolate covered strawberries that my mom and dad brought over.

Other than that. Whatever.

But here is one of my little heart breakers...showing her latest football moves.

No idea where this is coming from...but she is turning into quite the little athlete.

So did not see that coming. It is a good thing though otherwise it would be a total

waste of height!

This was not her Valentine's outfit.

Nope. She got all duded up today and asked me to curl her hair.

Sigh.

She looked pretty cute.

Not sure her valentine's turned out exactly how she had planned.

I kinda have to piece things together to get the real story.

She won class president for the second year in a row.

I love that she wants to be president (and wins) every year.

The kid has "it".

She did come home with a box of chocolates though.

Not from the boy she likes...but from the boy that likes her.

I was proud of her that she took them from him.

I had a boy in 2nd grade offer me earrings for valentines day.

I said no.

He cried. His mom told on me...my teacher told my mom.

I was forced to take them.

I felt badly about that 20 years later...for not just accepting them at first.

For breaking his little heart.

So today...she just took the chocolates.

His handmade note said," I am giving you these to tell you how much I like you if you don't like me. I like you because you are the only one nice to me."

How sad is that:( I wanted to cry for him.

But I was very proud of my "president".

She is awesome.

I am lucky to be her mom.

And the boy the she likes...he likes her...he wants her to text him.

She said no:)

So far...I am doing something right.

Yep. Feb 1st.

Tuesday...which means I made it through both January & Monday.

And noone yelled at me yet this week:)

Why? Because I didn't deserve it yet.

Actually. I am happy happy because I ALMOST missed a little chicks birthday yesterday.

I don't like to miss birthdays.

If you think something I make is special enough for your little wonders special special day...then I will do everything I can to make it happen.

I almost missed one yesterday.

But. I didn't. It got there:)

Don't for a second think that I do not appreciate just how important that day is.

Trust me. Today on the way to school Ainsley was telling me who she was inviting to her birthday.

It is not until the end of March.

I know birthdays are THE big day of the year for basically anyone under 30:)

And the fact that some people base a party around one of my shirts.

That is a wow thing to me.

Serious wow.

Peyton wore it to school today.
I meant to take a photo before school...but we were putting in her contacts.

Party time.

She wanted contacts a couple months ago. So we got them.

Then she realized what it took to get them IN her eyes.

So she didn't want them.

I told her this weekend that we would be wearing them (they are daily contacts)

until we are all out. I think we have a 2 month supply.

I explained to her that they were indeed not free...cough cough.

And after we are done with them...she can wear her glasses for the rest of her life.

I truly don't care. It was originally her idea, however I have to admit...it is nice to be able to see her whole face without her glasses slipping down her nose.

We wore them Sat.

Good times.

She had Volleyball. Her big concern was that she has raccoon eyes from her tan.

And she did.

Big white circles. I convinced her noone would notice.

We went to her volleyball game and I kid you not...her coach called her out on her white eyes IN FRONT OF EVERYONE! I wanted to throttle him.

Sigh. I figured everyone knew that you don't single out a 10 year old girl in front of 60 people.

60 people who were now looking at her white circles.

I have NO idea how she held it together and did not cry.

I wanted to for her.

So she went back to not liking them.

I told her that was not the deal.

We spent the weekend playing volleyball at the park and tanning our circles.

Monday she wore them. To school.

I think it must have gone well because she sparkled when she came out of class.

So now we are fans of our contacts.

You know...these pictures are only about 5 months apart but there is a change in her.

My "baby" is growing up:(

It's ok. She is the funniest person I know.

Like stand up comedian funny. It is bizarre.

My aunt was visiting and she said, "I always wondered what it would be like to know a Jim Carrey sorta person"...uh...that is Peyton when she is on a roll...which is basically every night.

She has me laughing...hard...all the time.

So I am ok with her getting older because I love her.

It did kinda stink.

Let's put it this way...I got railroaded 6 ways from sunday this week.

I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box but I know when I am being taken.

Let that be known. So if you think you are pulling a fast one on me.

You're not. Sometimes it is just easier to give in.

'nuff said. You probably know who you are if you are reading this.

I am sick of it though. Gotta tell ya.

Oh...I did get yelled at by a store this week.

Ya. That was uncalled for.

We aren't going to let that happen again.

The moral of the story is you get more honey with sugar than vinegar.

So please don't yell at me.

Hey...since I am dishing stuff out right now (bare with me...this is my therapy at the moment)

I gotta tell you a funny story (cough cough)

so...before xmas a "friend" who lives close, emailed me asking if I had a tee for her childs upcoming b-day. Um...well. Let me think. Probably.

So I said "yes" and I left it outside my front door all packaged up like I do for all "orders" and said friend apparently came one day and picked it up.

Ya. So...ok...did I get a thank you? Did I get a "how much do I owe you?"

nada.

So I emailed a couple weeks later to make sure she got it.

Not even an

"oops I am so sorry, what a turkey I am...I didn't even thank you for my free shirt that I ordered"

HA. People never fail to let me down I tell you.

sigh

I do know that 99.9% of the chicks I have dealt with are truly truly good people.

It is just funny when you see peoples true colors.

Anyways. So last night I thought it would be fun to make a few doll tees.

I listed 9 of them.

They were gone in less that a minute.

Huh!

I did learn that my website cannot handle that.

No worries...newer bigger things in the future and hopefully it will be able to handle that.

Yesterday was also school project day.

We had 3 to do.

(1) hat

(1) teeth diorama

and these (for a book report)

You know what. I am going to be honest.

For the first time...I did not help with the projects.

They did them all themselves.

If you do not know what the sock puppets are it is a mouse and a porcupine.

I figured I needed some valentine decor around here.

I also figured I would test my will power with an easy pour container full of m & m's.

I guarantee I will throw them out by sunday because lets face it...I am the one that will be eating them.

aaaaaand...I skipped my Christmas "peeps in a jar" decor. I just wasn't feelin' it.

But I brought them back because I cannot resist sparkly vanilla heart peeps or ones that say I love u.

I mean I cannot resist shoving them them in a jar. I can totally resist eating those.

Ew ew ew. I hate marshmallows.

Ew.

Yes that is a $4 table cloth from Target.

Cheesy? Ohh ya. But isn't most Valentine's decor?

Think about it.

So, I am currently dyeing "something" that I can't tell you about yet.

But I had an AHA moment the other day along with a "why did I not think of that before" moment and with a little luck, I will have something to show you this weekend.

Oooo...I forgot to mention the rest of my "friend" story.

It's good.

But I have to first tell you that I got an email yesterday from Jeni and it was so sweet

and I just want to say thank you.

I tell you...one nice email from a reader, customer, friend erases all the bad stuff before it.

It's true.

It's kinda like a quick compliment to anyone...and you just see them light up.

So just to let my "friend" know...the one that is now avoiding me.

Yes...we saw you pretend to be fishing for something in your purse at xmas time and literally

breeze right past us into a restaurant.

It was a scene right out of a seinfeld episode.

I thought it was pretty funny.

This was all over a $25 tee.

All I needed was a thank you.

Thank you's go a long way.

So I am only halfway through the day and so far it has been a bust.

I have worked my schedule so that I do my torture after I drop the kids off at school.

Then I am done and showered and ready to go by 9...

and since I work until 10-11 pm ...that is plenty I think.

Today was good.

Monday morning.

I got some new kicks yesterday.

Totally ugly...but strangely comfy.

Ya I have cankles...sooooo

Back to my point.
So I managed 20 minutes of insanity (literally...insanity) and I was doing so much better this week.

Then wham...out of the blue...extreme pain.

Not sure if I have ever mentioned on here that I have had severe endometriosis in the past.

It dates back to junior high.
Not good. Many hospital stays.

Ovarian cyst rupture.

Badddd.

It has been better since I had kids. Having kids kinda cured me for a few years.

That was until this past year and omg...OMG.

Owwww.

So 20 minutes of feeling great was quickly squashed by intense pain this morning and once again...I was stuck in the fetal position on the ground while I crawled to the medicine cabinet to get some painkillers and a heating pad.

Darnit. What a waste of time that was.

Now that it is noon and my meds have kicked in and I can somewhat function, I am prepared for a crappy week since that is usually how long this lasts and grrrr...it sucks.

On a lighter note...I hung my painting.

And now that I am blonde again...it kinda looks like me.

That alcove is about 7 feet tall...so it is really cool in person.

Makes me smile.

Something that makes my kids smile is the accessories department at forever 21.

They really do have the best selection of cheap costume jewelry.

Peyton likes to wear fun necklaces, bracelets etc to school.

Clearly we are not the only ones obsessed with their accessories since

the selection literally changes day to day.

Ok then.

I am off to make something...not sure what...but one of my most favorite people in the world gave birth to a little princess last night and she needs something sparkly don't you think?

Wow. 3 days blogging in a row.

Not that I have much to say.

I really just wanted to share this photo.

If you have read my blog for awhile, you know that my daughter sees hearts.

Literally. In everything.

And now, I have customers that send me photos of hearts they see.

I love that.

Today...it was the tip of the soap bottle.

That is most certainly a heart.

She literally oozes love.

The kid is a walking heart.

It reminds me of one of our favorite books.

Because I like the photos.

And secretly...it reminds me of her.

It kinda even looks like her.

As you can probably imagine...Valentine's Day is big for her.

So other than pressing 110 items today, shipping 45 packages tonight and somehow passing out for a 45 minute nap on the couch....and I mean passing out.

I was talking to Peyton about her sleep over last night and bam. Out like a light.

Which actually reminds me.

Sleep overs suck.

You get your kid back and they are grumpy and tired and geez louise.

This weekend...we planted a couple plants.

um...ya. Ok so they are metal. Whatever. I kill plants.

I am not good with them.

Not ones that I have to remember to water.

So these are the perfect plants for us.

We did plant some strawberries though.

Totally forgot to water them today.

They will probably be dead by tomorrow.

I think I need to make more of an effort in the plant department.

My girls have several. Been collecting over the last couple years.

I do love them. I mean THEY do love them.

but I like to get a little cheeky with cute words.

I am not going to carry the personalized ones yet. I don't think.

Not sure how I would handle that.

I like to have stuff in stock so I can ship when ordered.

Hmmm...maybe I went too far this time

With my nail fetish that is.

It all started with an ad.

An ad on tuesday. Ainsley brought it to me.

It was an ad with a whole bunch o sparkly nails.

It was love at first site.

I figured it was something that was not going to be available until spring or so.

Much to my surprise, a quick trip to the grocery store and...heaven.

So I tried them. And my nails are a little insane now.

But...they work. It feels like polish.

Looks like I spend too much time on my nails, which is really funny because they were

probably quicker than putting on regular polish and letting them dry.

Go figure.

and here is the result...again...excuse my old wrinkled hands.

I moisturize, I promise I do.

Kinda fun huh. For a 13 year old!

Which is basically how I feel anyways so whatever.

The package contains 16 nails. 2 sets of 8.

But my fingers are so small that I actually only used 5 strips for all 10 of my fingers.

I kinda wanna try them on my toes. Not sure if they would work.

Ok. Enough about nails.

So our bbq that I mentioned a couple weeks ago was finished.

It looks lovely.

The tile I love. I need more of it! MORE OF IT!

I bought some of them at Anthropologie and they are awesome.

Now I don't hate my backyard. Yay!

Tonight we bbq'd this thing (sorry if you are veggitarian and this grosses you out)

Uh ya. That was a 16 lb prime rib that my mom bought for some company and they never got around to cooking it...so it came here tonight to christen the bbq.

I will be eating prime rib all week.

Which is actually fine since I have been doing this for the past 2 1/2 weeks...and all I have is a bigger

a**. No joke. I swear to you I could be a body builder if I wanted to.

Which I don't. But building muscle has never been a problem.

The problem is that I would prefer to be a lean mean machine.

Not in my cards I don't think.

I do have the start of the return of my 6 pack.

I enjoy me some ab workouts I tell you...but that is only because I have always had a flat tummy,

no idea why...maybe because the flab always just goes to my butt and thighs.
But tummy issues have never been a problem.

HOWEVER! Clearly I am willing to work this program and it is not helping me yet!

So next week...it is a carb free week and we will see if that helps with my hour long sweatfest (which I kinda hate actually). I think the love will come when I see improvements and not just tighter seven's.

I do need a new pair of sneakers though.

My nikes are rather worn and my feet hurt.

So if you have any good advice in the sneaker department...please leave a comment.

She had to dress as a historical figure.

So I made her discover that Pocahontas was more than a Disney character:)
